Okay - the answer must be green, Right?

I've been turtle-watching for over 5 years now all along the Oahu coastline, and Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles range from light grey to yellow to green (yes) to brown to almost black. Why is that? I've no idea, but I can vouch for the spread in color with direct observations. So why do they call these cute, solitary, largely vegetarian turtles Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles? I think it's because we become green with envy at how sweet-natured, easy-going and long-lived they are.
