Over the last years, my husband and I have taken to cruising. We tried cruising once in early spring, another time in summer and again in fall. Mostly short 5 to 7 day cruises around Hawaii and along the Mexican Riviera. More recently we cruised for 10 days from Honolulu to Vancouver B.C. Canada. We had just planned a 21-day dance cruise on Cunard's Queen Elizabeth from Yokohama, Japan to Russia, to Alaska to Vancouver. Unfortunately, COVID-19 appeared in March/April basically stopping the entire cruising business, so we could not go.


The cruising company called us: "Sorry, no trip. Cancelled!"

Even so, diehards we are, we didn't give up cruising, and we rebooked the same ship from Vancouver up the Inland Passage to Alaska and back to SanFrancisco: 20 days in the middle of May. Surely, COVID-19 would be defeated by then! Sadly not so. We had this cruise also cancelled. The whole world is overwhelmed by COVID-19. Too Bad!

We check regularly for when cruising will resume. "Back to Normal." June? July? August? September? This is hurricane season in the Pacific! End of December? January 2021? Unfortunately, for 2021 the price is almost double, and we can no longer afford of this price even with the complimentary discount we were given because our cruises were cancelled. So we checked 2022 cruising, but what will this world be like so far in the future? I don't know. People everywhere seem to be living day-to-day. No work. Soon no more income. OMG!

Today, we watched a DVD we made during a 2019 cruise. During watching, we kept saying together, "Oh, No! Please do social distancing!" Ha, ha! It's hard to believe how much the world has changed in 3 months! Now, I understand that the cruising industry will have to fix lots of things and procedures aboard ships if they are to provide safety and good health. Maybe they can't without having entirely new ships! Can they afford this? Sadly, I doubt it. 

Still, we want to travel by ship and go cruising. We want to make more fun memories by cruising. I can not wait for our next cruise, but I have to. The question is how long do I have to wait? I don't know.

ここ数年、夫と私はクルージングでの旅を楽しんでいます。春先に一度、夏にまたは秋にクルージングを何回か試みました。ほとんどの場合、ハワイ周辺とメキシカンリビエラに沿った5〜7日の短いクルーズ。最近では、ホノルルからカナダ、バンクーバーB.C.まで10日間クルーズを楽しみました。私たちは、クナーズクイーンエリザベスで、日本の横浜からロシア、アラスカ、バンクーバーへの21日間のダンスクルーズを計画したばっかりでした。残念ながら、3月/ 4月にCOVID-19は登場し、基本的にクルーズ事業全体を停止したため、私たちは行くことができませんでした。


クルージング会社から「申し訳ありませんが、旅行はありません。キャンセルされました！」

それでも、しぶとい私たちは、クルージングをあきらめきれず、バンクーバーからインランドパッセージ (シアトルからアラスカ南東部のスカグウェーまでの自然に守られた水路) を経由してアラスカに行き、サンフランシスコに戻る同じ船を5月の中旬に20日間再予約しました。きっと、その時までに、COVID-19は敗北するでしょう！残念ながらそうではありませんでした。（期待は大きく裏切られ）このクルーズもキャンセルされました。全世界がCOVID-19に圧倒されていました。残念！！

巡航が再開される時期を定期的に確認していますが、 「通常に戻る」のは、６月？ 7月？ 8月？ 9月？この時期、太平洋はハリケーンシーズンです。 12月の終わり？ 2021年1月？残念ながら、2021年の価格はほぼ2倍であり、クルーズがキャンセルされたために提供された無料割引を使用しても、この価格では、、、？手に入れることは困難。それで2022年の巡航をチェックしましたが、、、。この世界（クルージング）はこれからどうなるのでしょうか？わかりません。人々はどこに行っても日々暮らしているようです。仕事なし。もう収入はありません。ああ、神様！

今日、私たちは2019年のクルージンゴの旅のDVDを見ました。鑑賞中は、「いやいや、社会的距離をとって！」と二人で言い続けていました。ははは！ この3か月で世界がどれほど変化したかは信じられません。今、私は、クルージング業界が安全と健康を提供するためには、船上で多くのことや手順を修正する必要があることを理解しています。完全に全く新しい船を用意しなくてはならないかもしれません！彼らはこれを買う余裕があるでしょうか？悲しいかな、私にはその事を信じられないです。

それでも、船で移動しての旅、クルージングに行きたいです。クルージングでもっともっと楽しい思い出を作りたい。次のクルーズの旅を待ちきれませんが、待たなければなりません。問題は、どれくらい待つ必要があるかです。全く未知です！
