A year or so ago, Betty and I noticed a pair of green parrots early in the morning from our picture window, squawking loudly as they flew east from the the Koolau Mountains to Kahala near the foothills of Diamond Head. Later, at sunset, we heard them fly back for the night.



Recently we went for a COVID-19 early morning walk and were surprised to hear a lot of squawking coming from a large mango tree. Several green parrots were sitting in the tree eating early appearing bright orange mangos. Nowadays, sixty or more fly by our lanai (porch) every sunrise and sunset, squawking loudly to each other. So beautiful, but noisy! It is like living in the Hawaii Amazon. 



Please don't eat all our mangos - Dan really loves them, too. Especially the massive, luscious Hayden mango.

1年ほど前、ベティと私は、早朝に窓から緑のオウムのペアが飛んでいるのに気づきました。彼らは、コオラウ山脈からダイヤモンドヘッドのふもとの丘の近くのカハラのへ飛んで行きました。東方面に飛んでいった時大声で泣いていました。後で、日没時に、彼らがその夜、彼らの巣に戻る時にも鳴でいているのを聞きました。 

最近、COVID-19による外出禁止令の為、早朝の散歩に出掛けました。大きなマンゴーの木からたくさんの鳴き声が聞こえてきて驚きました。数匹の緑のオウムが木の中に座っていて、もうすでに熟れた明るいオレンジのマンゴーを食べていました。今日は、日の出と日没時に60羽以上の緑のオーム達がベランダ（ポーチ）を通り抜け、大声で互い鳴いています。とても美しいけれど、とってもにぎやか！まるでハワイのアマゾンに住んでいるかのようです。

マンゴーを全部食べないで下さい。ダンもマンゴ大好きです。特に巨大で甘美なヘイデンマンゴーが 、、、。
