What are the key tenants of neurobiology?


First, of the four fundamental biological tissues, the one that is present in all four is the nervous system, so it much control the others. Second, wherever nerve cells congregate, learning can happen. Third, In higher animals, including humans, there is always more than one "brain." Fourth, these brains are organized hierarchically, each controlling those "below" it. Fifth, learning can occur at any of these levels of brain. Sixth, organisms are born with all the reflexes they need to survive; "learning" occurs when these reflexes are partially inhibited. Finally, at the highest level, rational learning involving choice occurs when there is both necessary and sufficient logic, reasoning and evidence; emotional learning occurs when there is insufficient logic, reasoning or evidence, or the situation is too complex to examine rationally. Of these, traumatic emotional learning always takes precedence over rational learning, and never goes entirely away.
